National visas are issued for long-term stays for a particular purpose. Usually they are issued for 90 days, in certain cases such visa may be issued for up to a year. After entering Germany, visa holders must apply for a residence permit at the competent alien authority as a general rule.
Family re-unification with a holder of protection status in Germany
If you wish to reunite with a family member with protection status in Germany, special procedures apply. This is regardless of nationality, and applies to all forms of protection status (asylum, refugee, subsidiary, deportation ban).
