For information in Arabic please see the website of the German Embassy in Cairo

Applicants who reside in Sudan can apply for Schengen visa at the German Embassies in Cairo, Addis Ababa and Nairobi until further notice. On an exceptional basis it might be possible to apply at other German visa sections in case that you are not able to apply in one of the above mentioned cities. Please consult the corresponding website of the Embassies in Cairo, Addis Ababa and Nairobi for more information on applications for Schengen visa.

National visa (for duration of stay of more than 90 days such as employment, studies etc) can also be applied for at the German Embassies in Cairo, Addis Ababa and Nairobi until further notice. Information in regards to appointment bookings for national visa in Cairo can be found in Arabic here, for Addis Ababa here, and for Nairobi here.

Applications for family reunion to people with a protection status (for example registered refugees or people with a status of subsidiary protection) will be taken in by the IOM-FAP offices in Nairobi and Addis Ababa and at the German Embassy in Cairo and then be processed by the corresponding German Embassy in the country of application. Registrations for application appointments done through the website of the German Embassy in Khartoum will remain valid. It is possible to enter new registrations through Khartoum's website by following this link.. People newly registered on Khartoum's waiting list will subsequently be contacted by IOM-FAP Nairobi.

The legal requirements for a visa application and the rules and regulations that govern the process have not changed.

Information on the necessary documents for each purpose of stay can be found on the website of the Embassy Khartoum (in German, for the Arabic version click on “AR” on the top right corner of the page).

The information above applies to new applications as well. The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working hard to find a solution for visa applications already made at the Embassy Khartoum. If you are an applicant with a pending application at the Embassy Khartoum, please update us on any changes in your place of residence, your address or your contact details through contacting the Help Desk of the Foreign Ministry.

Passports or other documents that were handed in at the German Embassy Khartoum cannot be returned at the present time. The Embassy Khartoum is closed. It is currently unknown when that might change. We are in the process of determining if and how passports can be returned in the safest manner for everyone involved and will update everyone affected as soon as a solution is found.
