Kenya and Germany have a long-standing partnership on environmental issues. The Federal Government of Germany supports Kenya in the conservation of biodiversity and in combating climate change.
As part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Germany assists Kenya in mitigating its own greenhouse gas emissions as well as in adapting to the adverse impacts of climate change. Furthermore, Kenya is a member of the Partnership on the Implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions to the Paris Agreement (NDC Partnership). The global Partnership was initiated by the Moroccan government, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and Germany.
