Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United Nations in Nairobi, Kenya

Besides New York, Geneva, and Vienna, one of the four headquarters of the United Nations is located in Nairobi. While more than 20 UN agencies have offices in Nairobi, only the United Nation Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) are headquartered there. UNEP acts as the main, global authority on environmental issues. UN-Habitat is responsible for matters surrounding sustainable urbanisation and upgrading of informal settlements with extreme poverty within cities worldwide. The German Embassy represents the Federal Republic of Germany at both UN agencies in Nairobi.
